Good-bye Irene
After a rainy night filled with whipping winds reaching speeds of 45+ mph our power managed to make it through most of Tropical Storm Irene. Irene departed in the wee hours of the morning along with our power leaving us with a gorgeous grey morning in which the cool breeze made us all but forget we didn't have power (A/C), that along with instant coffee (thanks thoughtful Hubby!) with warm apple pancakes on a gas stove. Brandon and I went on a discovery walk to assess the neighborhood damage (or lack thereof). Here's what we discovered:
The most significant damage we could find was the top of this tree that broke off and crashed into the neighbors front yard
The majority of the "damage" we saw was that everything had a healthy sprinkling of leaves and twigs
I love that my paper was on my doorstep after the night we had just experienced. Such pleasant normalcy.
