Halloween Weekend

We spent our weekend celebrating all things fall and Halloween.  We began with pumpkin carving with the boys (knowing that once again I would find myself scraping and carving 3+ pumpkins I was deeply in favor of any and all triangular themed faces).  Since the little guys aren't quite ready to weild a carving knife I thought it would be fun to go with the glitter.  What was I thinking?!?  Four emptied tubes of glitter, two grinning boys & an emptied roll of paper towels later most of the glitter is now neatly outside on our front steps.

Our neighborhood fall potluck was graced with a slushy snow-like substance rushing down from the sky.  Although not so great for neighborhood potlucks, this chilling in the air bodes well for the popularity of our Hot Buttered Rum served right alongside the Trick-or-Treat candy on Halloween night for the over 21 crowd.  Some years my kids could go trick or treating in shorts and they have ditched the costumes made for more chilly climates.  These are the years the Hot Buttered Rum sits like a lonely maid on our candy counter begging to be tossed in with the dry ice that's at least making itself useful by oozing it's eerie fog across the front path.

Our face-painter, Isabelle.

Our final excursion of the weekend was a trip over to Georgetown for a neighborhood picnic with friends and family.

Not only is this simply cute beyond words but add to the fact that his older brother has actually called him, since birth, Little Gnome or King of the Gnomes depending upon how he feels that day.

Part of my gaggle, patiently handing out candy.
"One for you,
Two for me,
One for you,
Three for me."

Halloween Movie Night (It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - remember waiting all year for that to come out on TV and if you missed it you'd have to wait another whole year to try catch it again?)

Thanks, Todd & Tamara, for a fun night in your neighborhood!
