My life bounced back to a state of equilibrium with the conclusion of the kid's school's silent auction; which I, in a moment of haste, volunteered to chair. If it weren't for my highly competent and supportive auction committee (affectionately known as "the bridesmaids") and some creative family members, this bad boy of an event would not have been the success it was raising three times the amount of the previous year's soiree. The past six months have been a roller-coaster planning and reinventing the school's fizzling major fundraiser known as...the silent auction. Months of donation solicitations, wheeling and dealing, begging and pleading brought on a sturdy set of volunteers, a funtastical new location, swinging live rhythms, and a plethora of fun & unique items up for bid to please every palate. The in-between times were filled with coordinating the class projects, photographing & framing 100 darling little faces for the children's "Portraiture Wall" and generating enthusiasm for this must-attend event. I am pleased it is over and am definitely crossing this off my "to-do" list with barely a glance back. Hats off to those of you that can do this more than once in your life! As for me, I welcome the free-time back in my life with a giant bear-sized hug.
