Each month I have the opportunity to gather with a delightful group of ladies to celebrate all things gardening. Going into my fourth year as a member of Garden Club it was my turn to host. For January's meeting, our topic, Organic Gardening; the location, my house. Way back in August when the Program Director contacted me about hosting for January it sounded like a sane idea. However, come the new year, sanity was a far cry from what I was feeling regarding hosting this event as the RSVP's rolled in...8...14...22...28...33. Host a speaker presentation and sit-down luncheon in my home for how many?!? Tell me again what it was I was thinking back in August to agree to this. Thirty-three people for a sit-down luncheon in addition to the fact that our house was still recovering from a large New Year's Party, I was knee-deep in planning our school's silent auction and the fact that a certain little man's 6th birthday was poking it's nose around the corner I was walking a fine line between Oh what fun! and Are you crazy?! I will not quit and I simply cannot turn my back on a good party. So, organic gardening it is.
My theme: rustic farmhouse meets outdoor garden. I like to bring a little of the outdoors in when the weather gets frightful so here's a glimpse of how I pulled this one off (along with a lotta bit of help in the food department from the caterers).
"Nothing so bolsters our self-confidence and reconciles us with ourselves as the continuous ability to create; to see things grow and develop under our hand, day in, day out." ~ Eric Hoffer
