The mark of a successful man is one that has spent an entire day on the bank of a river without feeling guilty about it. ~Author Unknown

Working Order
The holidays are over, the kids are back in school and I needed a day to recuperate from the parties, cooking, eating and endless rounds of "Mommmeeeee" echoing throughout the house over the past two weeks. I opted to take the day to mentally veg out and not make any major decisions. I started out with a running group where they told me the time, place and route and all I had to do was show up, tag along and run. I then picked up a bit from our New Years bash and did a little prep work for a Garden Club event I'm hosting later in the month but this all adhered to my day's objective in which it was pretty mindless work that involved no major decision-making. The only stress that creeped into my day was when the roar of the garbage trucks could be heard coming down our street. I hid in my darkened house peering out from behind the curtains praying they would take our mounds of garbage that would have given any unknowing carbon footprint advocate a heart attack if they thought that much debris came from 5 people in a week. Simply put, we forgot to take the garbage out after Christmas and then we hosted a New Years party for 70 bringing our garbage pile up to mini-landfill size. Once the collectors hopped off the truck, dumped the bags into the back, hopped back on and went about their day I was officially vegged (vedged?) out. I could feel my mental vacation begin with a wandering mind, uninterrupted by children clearly ready to be back at school & with friends. After a day of peace and quiet, I now feel back in working order, prepared to take on another year.
